The Poulawack Cairn.

Why yes it IS a pile of rocks, why do you ask?
Ok it's more than just a pile of rocks. It's an ancient burial cairn located on the Burren, Co. Clare, Ireland. It dates back to c. 3400 BC and when they excavated it in 1935 they found 16 people buried inside it. From what I've read (and I've read the original paper on the excavation; yes I really love this place!), the burials happened over a very long period of time (the first c.3400 BC; others c.1900 BC), which indicated it was a place of great importance. I've been there twice and both times it was just magical. It's not easy to get to. You have to climb up a hill of very uneven limestone rocks and then walk another several hundred feet over the uneven limestones (and over a limestone rock wall) to get out there. Because of this almost NO ONE goes there. Both times we saw just another person or two and the second time we were at the Cairn and the area around it for over 2 hours and no one else showed up.
From the Cairn, you can't see civilization. No houses, no roads, nothing. It's a neat feeling and almost brings you back to when the Cairn was in use. The place is truly magical.
